Thanks - the inspiration was a Japanese fighter fish added to our tank Saturday. All differences now reconciled (wish it was that easy for humankind)

Just realised I said Japanese rather than Siamese - it's because that's what my wife keeps calling them!

I know it as a Betta fish. They're so beautiful, but they don't play well with others! I've just had them one at a time.

Oh, I thought the bettas didn't get along with anybody. I'm glad to know they don't have to live in isolation. I always felt kind of sorry for my solitary fishes.
