Back to the roots
65 million years ago the impact of a gigantic meteorite on the Yucatan Peninsula led to the extinction of 70-80% of the time most living species. It then took another 2 million years until a placenta-bearing mammal arose. This mouse- to rat large animal would therefore be the common ancestor of all mammals including humans. That at least is the opinion of science. An amazing story.
