I was just reading an article about these.

Well, I watched a youtube video made by a couple (American) who tried out a capsule hotel in Japan. My illusions of cuteness/coziness were destroyed when they said their cubicles reeked of cigarettes and other other-people smells. I'm sure there's a big range in quality, though.
